    The Nomads of Central Asia, most likely, first introduced Chinese rugs into the northwest province of China. There were some weaving centers already established by the royal families in the 18th century located in the Peking, China area.

    Most Chinese rugs are woven on a cotton foundation with wool piles. Featuring bold pictorial designs

    In 1900 to 1930 San Francisco companies, called Nickle and Peking designed, rug designs, for Art Deco period and named them as Peking or Nickle rugs. Today these rugs are very famous among collectors today and are very collectible rugs.
